Lazaro Cardenas - Lazaro Cardenas

Lazaro Cardenas is a city in the state of Michoacan.

Understand

The town of Lázaro Cárdenas was founded on November 20, 1938, becoming the head of the municipality of the same name by decree of September 27, 1995. It included the towns of the former farm of San José de La Laguna, the ranch La Mancera and the header itself. The history of the municipality dates back to the year 1938, however, and paradoxically, the first two localities refer to a more remote past: the La Laguna farm, which refers us to pre-Hispanic times and to the penetration of Spanish farmers into the Tlaxcalans during the 16th and 17th centuries. In turn, La Mancera recalls the entry of the small army of Hernán Cortés to Tlaxcala in August 1519. Between 800 and 350 BC, the Texoloc culture developed, reaching at the end of this phase with two large towns or cities, 21 towns, 47 towns and 160 villages, in addition to 31 estancias, which were distributed over an area of approximately 2,700 km2. Among the 21 towns belonging to the Texoloc culture is the San José de La Laguna archaeological site, on the grounds of the La Laguna estate, data that allows us to affirm that the history of the Lázaro Cárdenas municipality began at least in the Texoloc phase.
