Lucea is a city in Jamaica.

background

The administrative headquarters for the Hanover parish is located in the small town of Lucea. In the early colonial days, the port was called by more ships than Montego Bay.

The deeply cut harbor bay is guarded on the west side by Fort Charlotte, which was built shortly after 1760. In the past, sugar was shipped from there, until 1960 many banana carriers were anchored there, today there are large molasses tanks on the east side. In the center of the village, the market square, the police station and the old courthouse with the small clock tower and the fountain in front are opposite each other.

Tourism has so far rushed past the place, and many local residents would like to keep their tranquil calm. The Lady Hamilton Resort Hotel has only just opened and since then there has been little change in terms of the tourist infrastructure.

Lucea is spoken "Lussi".
