the Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a national park of South Dakota to United States.

Understand

The Mount Rushmore National Memorial owes its existence to sculptor Gutzon Borglum who had a vision of four American presidents carved into this mountain. With the support of several politicians, this vision has become a reality. Between 1927 and 1941, more than 400 workers worked to shape the portraits in the rock.

The carved chairs are:

  • George Washington, first president of the United States (1789-1797)
  • Thomas Jefferson, Third President of the United States (1801-1809)
  • Abraham Lincoln, sixteenth President of the United States (1861-1865)
  • Theodore Roosevelt, twenty-sixth President of the United States (1901-1909)

Today the Mount Rushmore National Memorial is visited by more than three million people each year.
