Cities
- 1 Bitola (Битола) – One of the most European cities in the country, Bitola is known for its neoclassical architecture and Macedonian ruins of Heraclea lyncestis near.
- 2 Kruševo (Крушево) – a museum town nestled in the mountains of southwestern North West Macedonia; it is one of the most historically important destinations in the country, as it was the scene of a revolt against the Ottoman Empire
- 3 Makedonski Brod (Македонски Брод) – located in a historic region with the largest caves in Macedonia
- 4 Ohrid (Охрид) – with its ancient churches and flowered balconies in the old town on the hillside and its beach life below on the lake coast, it is without a doubt the "Macedonian Riviera"
- 5 Resen (Ресен) – Saraj Castle built at the beginning of the 20th century
- 6 Prilep (Прилеп) – Tobacco fields, medieval monasteries and strange rocks
- 7 Struga (Струга) – on the north shore of the lake, Struga is a smaller, quieter, cheaper but less fun alternative to Ohrid
- 8 Tetovo (Тетово) – Unofficial capital of the Albanians of North Macedonia, Tetovo is home to one of the most original mosques in the world, the Painted Mosque.

Buses depart from Skopje for most, if not all, cities in Western North Macedonia. Most of the major cities in the region with the exception ofOhrid also have train service.
