The Chagas disease, also called American trypanosomiasis is a parasitosis specific to certain regions of thecentral America andSouth America, transmitted by the bite of a reddish (Reduviidae) hematophagous (which feeds on blood) of the subfamily of Triatominae. Its name comes from the Brazilian doctor Georges Chagas who first described this parasitosis in 1909.
