Marigot, Saint Lucia is a city in Saint Lucia.
background
The elongated, narrow, arched bay of Marigot has long been considered by sailors to be a safe haven in hurricanes. Because of the heavy shipping traffic, a speed limit of 5 knots has been set for sailing ships in the bay. As early as 1778, the English admiral Samuel Barrington used the port as a loophole in front of the French fleet under the leadership of Count d'Estaing. He camouflaged his ships with palm leaves and was not seen that way. In the recent past, the site has been used as a film set for films such as Dr. Dolittle and Firepower known. Extensive construction work has been and is being carried out in the past few years. In 2006 the 124 room hotel “Discovery” was opened. The associated marina is designed for 60 berths. A “Marina Village” with car rental, bank, boutiques, supermarket and restaurants was also built right next to it. In addition, there is a so-called “Boardwalk” at the southeast end of the bay - a somewhat wider wooden walkway along the shore, but above the water.

In the street
Marigot is about a kilometer off the main road leading from the capital Castries to Soufrière leads. The access road is not signposted, but you can see van from the main road down into the bay.

The port of Marigot is the official entry point for sailing yachts. There is an immigration and customs authority on the south side of the bay, Tel. 451-4257.
