Marina Bay is the newest of the districts of Singapore, created on a polder just south of Riverside.
Understand
The name "Marina Bay" is a bit confusing. Technically, this is land reclaimed from the sea at the mouth of Singapore and protected by the Marina dam, but Singaporeans easily associate the name of "Marina" with that of the shopping complex of Marina Square and to the hotel sector which surrounds it on the north bank of the river. The south shore is much less developed although the location of the casino Marina Bay Sands and a convention center in 2010 foreshadows that it will not always be so. Here we will consider Marina Bay to be everything east of Shenton Way and Esplanade Drive.

Transportation to Marina Bay is still quite uneven today:
- North Shore – By the Circle Line MRT, get off at Esplanade (Suntec City) and Promenade (Millenia) stations, or walk 15 minutes through the CityLink shopping mall from Raffles City (City Hall MRT Station, at the intersection of the North lines -South and East-West).
- South Shore – Marina Bay Sands Casino is directly served by the Bayfront MRT station as well as buses 97, 106 and 133. These buses also run to the Marina Bay MRT, which (despite its name) is not very convenient, unless you want to get to Marina Barrage. However, you will need to take a shuttle where it says "Attraction". The Marina Bay station on the Downtown line of the MRT was opened to the public on .
From the airport, guests of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel can use the free shuttle. In any other case, you will have to pay 25 $, it's about the same price by taxi.
