Masanów - Masanów

Masanów is a village of about 700 inhabitants, located in Greater Poland Voivodeshipin the eastern part Ostrów County and in the middle of the Sieroszewice commune. It is located about 18 km east of the center Ostrów Wielkopolski and is situated on the district road Sieroszewice - Wielowieś Klasztorna.

Worth seeing

  • From 1833 he lived here Paweł Bryliński (1813-90), an outstanding folk sculptor, creator of numerous carved poles and crosses in Southern Greater Poland, largely as a sign of Polishness - destroyed by the Germans during World War II. The sculpture of Christ with his chisel is in the village of new cross.
  • About 2.5 km southeast of the village, on the left bank Rotten Barycz is located conical settlement "Zamczysko" with a diameter of 80 m and a height of 1.5 m. In the south-west we also have interesting nature reserves "Niwa" and "Majówka".
  • Exactly on the opposite side of Rotten Barycz (as a mirror image from the above ruins) there is a roadside cross, and next to it a Swedish grave from around 1656 (as described on old maps)
  • Along the highway to Ostrów Wielkopolski picturesque stretches birch alley. It is 5 km long and consists of warty birches planted in 1832 (their circumference is about 200-250 cm).
