Massy is a municipality ofEssonne, in Ile-de-France.
Understand
This former rural town of Île-de-France has been populated since antiquity. The city center, where Nicolas Appert or Fustel de Coulange lived, was partially destroyed in August 1944, following Allied bombardments targeting the town's railway nodes. Since the 1950s, Massy's development has focused on industry.

- 1 Sainte Marie Madeleine church place of the old bell tower –
This church, originally from the 13the century, has been classified as a historical monument since 1920. The current church consists of a modern nave, distinct from the bell tower, following the bombardment of the nave during the Second World War.
- 2 Vilgénis Castle –
This castle and its park were notably the property of Jérôme Bonaparte. From the 1950s to 2011, the airline Air France set up its training center for apprentices and continuing training for airline pilots there. Air France will only keep part of the fleet after 2011. The castle and 13 hectares of park are sold to the SAFRAN group. An area of 18 hectares, comprising ponds, and wetlands around the Bièvre, become the property of the town hall of Massy, which opens the park to the public in 2018, after redevelopment.

The district of the RER B station (avenue Carnot - Avenue de Paris) has long been an industrial area, between the 1950s and the 2000s. There are still a few company offices in this area, but the factories of factories have closed, and are now being replaced by apartment buildings. The industrial zone of La Bonde, closer to the road network, takes over as an employment zone.
