Melide is a Swiss Municipality in the canton Ticino.

Melide is on Lake Lugano, on the north-west bank below Monte San Salvatore, where the Melide dam crosses the lake (motorway, main road and railway line). The village is located southwest of the dam and is therefore not directly affected by through traffic.

In the street
The Melide exit on the A2 motorway (half-way connection to / from Luganao) is located next to the village center. When arriving from the south (Chiasso), the Bissone exit on the other side of the dam must be used.

Scheduled boats operate on Lake Lugano and the municipality has a landing stage.

- 1 Swiss miniature, at the train station on the opposite side of the street. The Swissminiatur is an open-air museum that shows the most important buildings in Switzerland on a 1:25 scale. A model railroad layout on the same scale is integrated into it.Open: March 17th - October 28th 2007; daily 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., last entry at 5.30 p.m.Price: Adults CHF 15.-, AHV recipients (pensioners) 13.-, children (6-15 years old) CHF 10.-, children up to 5 years free entry, day ticket for families (2 adults children (6-15 years old) ) 45.-, Admission is free for the handicapped and their companions (the facility is wheelchair-accessible).
