Micoud is a city in Saint Lucia.

background

At the mouth of the river Troumassee the French founded a settlement of the same name. In 1770 the place was moved from the damp lowlands to a higher hillside location, at the same time it was given a new name in honor of the governor de Micoud. The first church was built in 1773. In 1775 there were 84 plantations around the place. During the hurricane of 1780 almost all houses in the settlement were destroyed. The reconstruction took place further north in a small bay, this place was now named Port Micoud. During the French Revolution it was renamed Union again. In 1866 he was one of the first to receive two schools on the island.

The main road to the north leads past Micoud to the west and then makes a slight bend inland. 5½ km away you first come to the small village of Patience, which practically only consists of a street crossing with a post office. From there it is only 1 km to Mon Repos. After another 2 km you have reached the Atlantic coast at Praslin Bay again.

Extensive construction work is taking place on Praslin Bay. Two large hotels are being built there, one directly by the sea, a second about 1 km away, inland on the other side of the main road. In addition, the Paradis Marina is being built and there will also be a golf course.
