Montgomery is the second largest city in Alabama and capital of the state.

Montgomery was briefly the capital of the Confederate States of America. In the State Capitol, Jefferson Davis took his oath of office as President of the Confederate States. Montgomery was also a major point in the civil rights movement as the arrest of Rosa Parks led to the ensuing bus boycott. Martin Luther King was appointed coordinator of the following protests and demonstrations.
