Do

  • Ascent of Sapitwa  – This is the highest peak, it can be reached without technical climbing experience, but involves a difficult hike. Housing

  • Likhubula Forestry Lodge  – a charming and inexpensive little house at the southwest base of the massif. The facilities are comfortable and clean and the services of a cook are available (but bring your own equipment). The Forestry Lodge is an ideal base for day trips to the waterfall (approx. 90 min walk) and the Likhubula rock pools (approx. 10 min). A longer excursion (3-h ascent depending on the route) can be done in good weather towards Chambe Peak and Chambe hut. From there you can plan longer treks (at least 2 days) to Lichenya Plateau and Refuge and finally to Sapitwa.
  • CCAP Guest House
  • Mulanje Motel

There are several shelters on the massif that provide most of the bedding and cooking equipment, but you must bring your own food.
