Murchison is a small place in the region Tasman.

The small town of Murchison is in the Level of the four rivers. The place sees itself as Whitewater Capitalwho have favourited four rivers Buller, Matakitaki, Matiri and Mangles River are classified between 2 and 4 on the white water difficulty scale. From the near Kahurangi National Park and the Nelson Lakes National Park A few more rivers flow into the Buller River. The town was founded by gold prospectors in the 19th century, of which almost nothing has survived, since Murchison in 1929 Buller Earthquake was totally destroyed.
