Parques Regional El Valle y Carrascoy

About 7 km south of Murcia rises a mountain range that invites you to hike. A good starting point is the visitor center La Luz. There you get free maps with the most important hiking trails, there is a small museum and a nice tapas restaurant.

Recommended routes:

  • The ascent to the 604 meter high El Relojero takes about 3 hours including the way back and is rewarded with beautiful views over Murcia and the Mediterranean Sea. The PR-MU 22 and PR-MU 22.1 trails lead through sparse pine forests up to the summit. Closed footwear is recommended. The route not shown on the official map is more demanding Tierra Rocha (to be found with the mobile phone map, e.g. free of charge and offline via the maps.me app), which leads to the summit on a well-trodden single trail in a scenic (but steep) manner.
