There are seven designated National parks in Ghana. These are administered by the Forestry Commission and are more or less touristy developed. The Kogyae Strict Nature Reserve is only accessible for research purposes with permission.

Ankasa Nini Suhien National Park

The Ankasa Conservation Area is a little over 500 km². The strictly protected core zone is the Nini-Suhien National Park with about 160 km². It is named after three local rivers with several attractive waterfalls and rapids. The local rainforests are a retreat for forest elephants, among others. The "big tree" from Esen-Epan is said to be the largest in Africa with a height of 66.5 m and a diameter of 12 m. Bia Tawaya National Park

The Bia National Park, 563 km² (core zone 78 km²) on the border with the Ivory Coast, has been protected since 1935 because of its forest of pristine rainforest. All commercial logging has been banned since 1975. In 1983 it was upgraded to a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Here is also an important habitat for forest antelopes and elephants.

Bui National Park

Tafi Atome Monkey Conservation Reserve

This sanctuary was designated by the provincial government in order to promote the conservation of species of monkeys, which have a place in the animistic beliefs of the natives. Above all, that is important Monkey cat.
