New Bight is a city in Cat Island.
background
The island’s administrative headquarters, New Bight, stretches for several kilometers along the Queen’s Highway. New Bight is one of the few gas stations on the island. The bay of the same name "The Bight“Can come up with a 13 km long, pink sandy beach, with the two districts New Bight at one end and Old Bight 7 km south at the other end. Originally the place was called Freetown and was a foundation of slaves who arrived on a ship from Africa with the proclamation of liberation and were immediately released on the spot. Old Bight is also called "The Village" called. Most of the land around the town has been owned by the Armbrister family since 1780. In the 1950s, Frances Armbrister returned to the place of his ancestors with his son Tony. They built a new building from the remains of the plantation house. This is now the Fernandez Bay Village Hotel, 1½ km north of New Bight. At Old Bight there is a long, lonely sandy beach with shady trees but no infrastructure.
