The small town of Nimbin is 29 km north of Lismore. Nimbin is the center of the alternative "back to the country movement". Of course, there are more frequent frictions between the very conservative long-established residents and the very progressive newcomers. Nimbin only exudes such a great attraction for backpackers because the whole place pays homage to "light" drug use. Despite the opposite legal situation in Australia, the local police seem to be turning a blind eye.

Regular day tours are available for little money Byron Bay, a coastal town that backpackers like to head for, about 60km away. The roads should not be underestimated due to the relief of the terrain - the route by bike is extremely arduous.

The place itself essentially consists of a street with all sorts of alternative shops on either side. The area with several national parks and state forests is very green.
- Rocky Creek Dam & Picnic Area. Another 6 km north is Rocky Creek Dam. Here you will find beautiful hiking trails with a view of the mountains and the lake. In addition, a well-kept picnic area ensures a pleasant stay.
- Nimbin Rocks. These bizarre rocks are of volcanic origin and already 20 million years old.
- Tuntable Falls. A little further away, namely 13 km on the Tuntable Road, you come to the Tuntable Falls. They fall 123 m deep. The way to the waterfall is difficult. You have to walk along the river bed. It takes about three hours to get there and back.

- Channon Market. A market held every other Sunday on Terania Creek, 15 km from Lismore. It is very much shaped by the people who have settled here in this wonderful area to lead an alternative life, away from the hustle and bustle.
As a tourist you will be discussed every 5 minutes whether you want to buy marijuana. Many of the people who live there use marijuana.
