During the Christkindelsmarkt period you will find a huge choice of traditional Christmas decorations, wooden toys, winter clothes etc. Outside this period, the city remains very commercial with many large shopping malls. All year round, you can also bring back specialties of gingerbread (Lebkuchen) or chocolate.

On the Christmas market, you can eat three small sausages in a "Drei im Weckla" bun for 2,2  (average price in 2009) quite nutritious and very typical. You will also find for reasonable prices a kind of block of grilled sausage meat "Fleisch Küchla" or sausage sold by the half-meter.

Le Barfüsser, a traditional brasserie in a cellar located in the southern part of the old town. The card is only in German. One of the waiters would speak French. The prices are very reasonable, the food seems typical, it is very correct. They brew their own beer.
