Nuremberg, Nürnberg in German is a city located in the land of Bavaria in Germany . It is the capital of Franconia.
Understand
The city is known for the Christkindelsmarkt, its Christmas market, as well as for its preserved medieval heritage.Nuremberg is a very touristic city, but above all it attracts German, Austrian and Swiss tourists, therefore only German-speaking ones. Few traders speak languages other than German or a few sentences in Globish.

- 1 Nuremberg Airport (IATA : NUDE, ICAO: EDDN, Flughafen Nürnberg - Albrecht Dürer) (5 km north of Nuremberg) – It is served by several companies including Lufthansa and Air Berlin. From the airport you can reach the city center in less than a quarter of an hour by metro.

Circulate
There are 3 metro lines and several tram lines and a dense bus network. Travelers should buy "Tages Ticket" tickets valid on the entire public transport network for a day or a weekend. The "Tages Ticket Plus" allows two adults and up to four children to travel. Please note that it is not possible to buy tickets from the ticket machines with a bank card!
Metro stations are clean and seem safe. The network is very understandable, it seems rather difficult to get lost in it.
The old town can be visited above all on foot.
Be careful, there are no pedestrian crossings in the city center!

- First and foremost: the Fembohaus municipal museum, it will help you understand the history and functioning of the city. Audio guides in French. Note that when you have paid an entry for a municipal museum, you will be able to visit all the others for free on the same day.

Must see for German speakers
- Tucher municipal museum castle. Beautiful Palazzio-type Renaissance residence, which once belonged to the Tucher family (founders of the brewery of the same name) and reconstructed Renaissance dance hall. Guided tour in German costume only. Unguided tour possible but very frustrating.
- Nuremberg Imperial Castle: visit only with guide in German. ditto for the castle well.
To see if there really is nothing else to do
- Executioner's house: for 2 €, you will have access to two small rooms completely refurbished, without any cachet, or you will see kind of posters explaining in German the history and the role of the executioner in Nuremberg.
To see not far
- 2 Playmobil's Fun-Park Brandstätterstraße 2-10, 90513 - Zirndorf (AT 8 km west of Nuremberg) – Amusement park (and hotel possible), for fans of the small PVC silhouette.
- Nuremberg Zoo can be reached by tram from the city center.

During the Christkindelsmarkt period you will find a huge choice of traditional Christmas decorations, wooden toys, winter clothes etc. Outside this period, the city remains very commercial with many large shopping malls. All year round, you can also bring back specialties of gingerbread (Lebkuchen) or chocolate.

On the Christmas market, you can eat three small sausages in a "Drei im Weckla" bun for 2,2 € (average price in 2009) quite nutritious and very typical. You will also find for reasonable prices a kind of block of grilled sausage meat "Fleisch Küchla" or sausage sold by the half-meter.
Average price
Le Barfüsser, a traditional brasserie in a cellar located in the southern part of the old town. The card is only in German. One of the waiters would speak French. The prices are very reasonable, the food seems typical, it is very correct. They brew their own beer.
The Posthorn, brewery for tourists located in 50 m from the town hall (Rathaus). Part of the map is in English. Tourists are very numerous. It is very likely that you will be seated at the table with strangers. The servers are very speedy. One of them is French speaking.

During the Christkindelsmarkt period, you can drink mulled wine (Glühwein) and hot chocolate (Heisse Schokolade) at the counter of small stalls. Cups are returnable for approx. 2,5 €.

Cheap
Pension Florida: small pension café located 05 min walk from Plärrer metro station. Clean, sober. The outbuildings are not heated. We had 5 ° C in the hallway ... Nobody speaks even a word of a language other than German. The sound insulation of the rooms is more than doubtful.
