Nísia Forest (formerly called papari) is a city in the region East of large northern river.

The city's name is a tribute to the writer and poet Nísia Floresta. According to the 2012 IBGE census, the city had 23,784 inhabitants and an area of 306.1 km².
In addition to traditional agricultural activities and tourism, the city is known as "the land of shrimp", due to the recent growth of the 'carcinoculture (shrimp farming).
