Oatman is a place in Arizona and is due to the historical Route 66.

background

At the beginning of the 20th century gold was mined here and the city was called Vivian, after a mining company. The city of Oatman was later baptized after Olive Oatman. Once more than 10,000 people lived in Oatman until the end of gold mining in 1942 and the relocation of Route 66 in 1950 and thus the bypassing of the place reduced the population to below 100. After that, attempts were made to keep the village in its old style and made it accessible to visitors. Gold is now being mined again in the area.
