- 1 Vologda (Вологда) – administrative capital of the Vologda oblast since 1937, the city is particularly rich in aristocratic wooden houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.
- 2 Belozersk (Елозерск) – The city is located on the southern shore of Lake Beloïe. It was the capital of a small principality between 1238 and 1370. From its past it has kept many monuments
