In 1980, Ohrid was declared part of the World Heritage by UNESCO.
Numerous churches have survived in the city (the church of St. Sophia with preserved frescoes from the 11th century, St. Panteleimon, St. John in Kaneo from the 14th century, St. Clement from the 13th century, St. George, St. Zaum, St. Petka, St. Stephen), the ruins of the Basilica of St. Erasmus from the 4th century, the ruins of Tsar Samuel's fortress from the 10th-11th centuries and the ancient theater. There is a museum of Slavic literature in the city. 25 km south of Ohrid lies the historic monastery of St. Naum.

The city of Ohrid as well as the whole of North Macedonia are very cheap. There are several supermarkets in the city where shopping is recommended. In small shops, prices are often tens of percent higher.

The gastronomic network in the city is well developed. On every corner you will find restaurants, cafes and kiosks with local fast food. Eating everywhere is cheap and tasty.
Parties
Every year, the Ohrid Summer theater festival (July-August), the Balkan folklore festival (June) and the Balkan folk music festival (August) take place in Ohrid.
