security
Ciudad del Este (to a lesser extent also Pedro Juan Caballero) is considered to be relatively unsafe because of smuggling, and in Asunción you also have to pay attention to the safety tips that are usually posted in large cities. In the rest of the country, crime is not a foreign word, but you don't need to be afraid of robberies either.
The extremely rigid stance of the police against "negligently dressed" foreigners until around 1990 is now largely a thing of the past.
climate
Summers are hot and often over 35 ° C, while winter is the best time to travel with temperatures between 20 ° and 30 ° (sometimes significantly cooler). The further east you go, the wetter it gets, Ciudad del Este has a typical rainforest climate.
