The community Ormalingen is lying in Swiss Canton Basel-Country.
background
Ormalingen was settled early on, so a Roman villa and rich early medieval graves were found. "Normandingen" was first mentioned in 1286, it was the name of a settlement and was probably derived from Nordmann. Over time the "N" was lost and the village was called "Ormandingen". In the Middle Ages, the Counts of Homberg, Frohburg, Homburg and Thierstein divided this village one after the other. In 1461 Ormalingen came to the city of Basel with the rule of Thierstein-Farnsburg.

- Farnsburg ruin. A popular destination. The ruin can be reached in an hour's walk from Ormalingen Dorf or in 10 minutes from Restaurant Frarnsburg. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the Jura, the Black Forest and, on clear days, of the Alps.Price: free entry.
- Nicholas Church. Worth seeing because of its frescoes, which date from the 14th century.
