Understand
Beaudry Provincial Park, created in 1974, is located 10 km West of Winnipeg on the banks of the Assiniboine River in Manitoba on Highway 427. The total area of the park is 9,5 km2 and is located in Winnipeg. The park is characterized by the meanders of the Assiniboine River, a landscape of background forest and plains. A major restoration of the tall grass prairie is currently underway. Part of the park is under agricultural cultivation and the latter protects an ecosystem of tall grass prairie The heart of the park is 488.8 ha and represents about 51.3% of the surface of the park The space used as an element of protection of the heart is 387.4 ha or 40.6% of the park area. They are mainly cultivated fields in meadows. The living space represents 75.5 ha or 7.9% of the surface of the park. These are the spaces designed for reception, parking and amenities.
The objective is therefore to preserve an area representative of the natural region of tallgrass prairies and to accommodate a variety of recreational opportunities.
- Protect and restore a tall grass prairie ecosystem and forest habitat examples of prairie rivers and streams,
- Provide nature-based recreational opportunities, such as hiking and cross-country skiing in a largely undisturbed environment, while accommodating low-density day-use facilities,
- Promote public appreciation and understanding of the natural and cultural heritage of the park.
