This article deals with the region of Spain, for the French part see the article Pyrénées-Atlantiques
The Pays Basque, officially Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, is surrounded by the Cantabrian Sea, the France, the Castile and Leon, the Navarre, La Rioja and the Cantabria. It is a mountainous region marked by the relief of the Pyrenees in the north and the Cantabrian Cordillera elsewhere. Its mild and very humid oceanic climate and green landscapes contrast with much of the Iberian Peninsula.
