the Sault country is a small natural region in the department ofAude in France. It is a plateau located approximately 1 000 m altitude crossed by the Rébenty gorges. There are several remote villages whose main activity is agriculture and cattle breeding. The plateau is surrounded by peaks of more than 1 500 m which offer many hiking possibilities. In winter the snow cover between January and March allows the practice of snowshoes and cross-country skiing, the village of Camurac even has a small alpine ski resort, the only one in the department ofAude
