Peitz (Lower Sorbian: Picnjo) is a small town in Brandenburg, about 18 km northeast of cottbus. The old fortress town has some interesting old town houses in its historic town center, the hut museum and some interesting historic villages in its vicinity.
background
The town of Peitz was first mentioned in a document in 1301. Even today there are remains of the old castle and fortress complex as well as the striking fortress tower. In some places there are still some interesting town houses from the 17th to 20th centuries. The oldest was rebuilt after a city fire in 1610. The town hall and the town church are also interesting.
