Pfungstadt was cut off from rail traffic for years until the 2011 timetable change, when Germany's shortest railway line was put back into operation. Since then, trains have been running from 1 Pfungstadt station the almost 10 km from Darmstadt Hbf to Pfungstadt constantly back and forth.

Churches
- 1 Evangelical Church Pfungstadt, Kirchstrasse 33-35. The core of the Protestant church dates from the 18th century, but was redesigned at the end of the 19th century according to the ideas of the time.
- 2 Old Synagogue Pfungstadt, Hillgasse 8.
The synagogue in Pfungstadt goes back to the beginning of the 19th century. Due to its location in the middle of Pfungstadt's old town, it escaped being burned on the Reichskristallnacht in 1938, although the entire interior was looted and damaged. The imposing ceiling painting in ultramarine blue is particularly worth seeing. Today the building is used for changing cultural events, partly also for special exhibitions of the city museum.

- 3 Büchner Villa, Uhlandstrasse 20. The Büchner Villa was the home of the industrialist Wilhelm Büchner, who founded a paint factory in Pfungstadt. The lavish interior in the style of historicism has been preserved to this day. The building is used partly for events, partly also for gastronomy, but many rooms are empty.
- 4 Old Town Hall, Kirchstrasse 1. The old town hall is a baroque building from the 17th century. Although the city administration moved a few meters further into a new building for reasons of expediency, the meetings of the city council are still held here today.
