The Pilanesberg National Park is a national park in South Africa.
background
history
The national park, opened in 1979, is located in the crater of an extinct volcano. With an area of 55,000 hectares, it is the fourth largest park in South Africa. There is great biodiversity within the park. However, this was only made possible by the Operation Genesiswhen a number of animals, especially endangered species, were brought into the fenced-in area during a resettlement campaign.
