Ploiesti - a city in the south Romania, the administrative center of Prahova County, at the northern end of the Wallachian Plain. It has about 250 thousand. residents.

Characteristic

The city of Ploiesti was founded in 1596 and claims to have been founded by Michael the Brave, the prince of historical Wallachia. In the 17th and 18th centuries it grew into a trade and craft center. Later, the oil refinery became a leading economic activity and for a time the city was one of the main centers of oil production in the world.

Drive

Location about 60 km from the capital of the country, getting in and out of Ploiesti is easy. Its train station is second only to Bucharest, with many connections to Bucharest, Transylvania, Moldova and others.

There is a well-developed bus and trolleybus network, operated by TCE (Transport Călători Express). The nearest airport, Henri Coandă International Airport, is only 45 km from the city.

There is already a good highway to the capital and a new highway from Bucharest to Brasov (passing Ploiesti) will be completed soon.
