This place is one of the most interesting archaeological complexes in the Jura. The beginnings of people's stay in this place reach 30,000. years back. In the second and third millennia B.C.E. there were workshops for making flint tools here. This period dates back to the establishment of the first agricultural settlement here, the so-called Funnelbeaker culture. In the period of the 6th - 5th centuries BC. The mountain was the center of several nearby settlements, the so-called Lusatian culture (the same culture built the stronghold in Biskupin). The group of settlements was destroyed by the Scythian nomadic invasion. In the 4th and 5th centuries AD the hill was inhabited by the Vandals (representatives of Germanic tribes). The last settlement erected on Mount Birów was a Slavic stronghold erected in the 8th century CE. It is one of the oldest settlements in the Jura of our immediate ancestors, the Slavs. Currently, at the top of the mountain, there is a reconstruction of a wooden medieval castle with watchtowers, defensive and residential buildings.
