Brodnica Lake District - located in the north-eastern part of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, near Brodnica. The city from which the region takes its name.
The lake district includes over 100 lakes with an area of over 1 ha each. Gutter lakes predominate, many of them are connected by watercourses. The largest water reservoir is Wielkie Partęczyny (area: 324 ha). The region is relatively poorly developed for tourists. The conditions for sailing are not favorable due to the relatively small area of the lakes, surrounding hills and the shoreline covered with tall forests. Internal combustion engines are forbidden in a large number of water bodies. In the most valuable natural parts of the lake district, landscape parks have been created, within which 7 nature reserves have been located. The above-mentioned features and the Skarlanka (dammed) and Drwęca rivers make this region an interesting place to practice canoeing.
The city is a tourist attraction of the region Brodnica with a characteristic triangular market square and the ruins of a huge 14th century Teutonic castle. The city used to be surrounded by a fortified wall, the remains of which have survived to modern times. A tall tower and foundations with cellars have remained from the Teutonic stronghold. Everything is open to the public.
