Mikołów poviat - poviat in Polandin the central part of the Silesian Voivodeship, located directly in between Rybnik Coal District, a Upper Silesian Industrial District. The city is the seat of the poviat authorities Mikołów.

There are six towns in the Mikołów County.

The Mikołów County is inhabited by nearly 97,000 people, which makes it the twelfth most populous county in the Silesian Province. The area is 233.06 km², which makes the Mikołów poviat 3 the smallest poviat in the voivodship.

Position

The Mikołów County is located in the south-west Poland on the border of the Silesian-Kraków Upland and the Oświęcim Basin. Administratively located in the central part of the Silesian Voivodeship and Upper Silesian Industrial District (GOP).

History

The localities of the present poviat were located in the Pszczyna poviat until 1954, and then in the Tychy poviat until 1975 (with the exception of Ornontowicewhich in 1960 was incorporated into the Rybnik poviat).

In 1990, as a result of the administrative reform, all towns of the poviat were included in the Śląskie Voivodeship, thus ending the existence of the Katowice Voivodeship.
