Racibórz poviat - a district in southern Poland, located in the Silesian Voivodeship, created in 1999 as part of an administrative reform. Its seat is in the city of Racibórz.

Communication

There is a well-developed road network in the poviat, which is represented by two national roads and fifteen voivodeship roads. Moreover, there is a railway in the district. Air transport in the Racibórz district is impossible, and the nearest airports are:

Cities

  • Racibórz - the seat of the Racibórz poviat, it is located in the poviat center. According to data from February 28, 2006[3] the city had 60 218 inhabitants. Racibórz is the historic capital of Upper Silesia, where the Dukes of Opole and Racibórz resided. Many valuable monuments have survived to this day, incl. castle chapel st. Tomasz Kantuaryjski, which they call the pearl of the Silesian Gothic. The city was the first in Poland and Europe to receive the ISO 14001 certificate.
  • Cistercian abbey in Rudy
    Krzanowice - the seat of the Krzanowice commune, located in the south-western part of the Racibórz district. According to data from December 31, 2004, the city had 2,206 inhabitants.
  • The Racibórz Forge - the seat of the Kuźnia Raciborska commune, located in the north-eastern part of the Racibórz poviat. According to data from December 31, 2004, the city had 5,630 inhabitants.

Piast castle in Racibórz

Krzyżanowice

  • a palace from the 18th century with a gatehouse that belonged in the past, among others to the Lichnowski family. The palace was used by, inter alia, Franciszek Liszt and Ludwik van Beethoven. Currently, a care home for the handicapped run by the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters.

Tworków

  • parish church st. Peter and Paul, a pearl of the Silesian Baroque, preserved and exposed sarcophagi from the 17th century.

Misery

  • neo-baroque Roman Catholic church of Our Lady of the Rosary from 1908, was built according to the design of the architect Ludwig Schneider, and its builder is considered to be the then parish priest from Markowice near Racibórz, Fr. Alojzy Reif. The church has a way of the cross and a cemetery where Fr. prof. Alojzy Marcol.
  • railway station from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It is situated next to a closed narrow-gauge railway.
  • A medieval ring-shaped settlement from the 13th-14th centuries. Grodzisko is located about 800 meters east of the railway station (coordinates: 50 ° 9'30 "N 18 ° 18'13" E)

Babice (Nędza commune)

  • A hunting manor from the 1880s, located in the Łężczok nature reserve. The palace was built in the 18th century by Cistercians from the nearby Rudy, after which two of them passed into the hands of the Dukes of Racibórz. After the war, the palace was converted into a forester's lodge, and at present the building is in ruins.

Wojnowice (Krzanowice commune)

  • a palace in Wojnowice in the neo-baroque-classicist style from 1828, situated in a 4.5-hectare park, built by Carl Johann Kuh. In 1872, purchased and extended by the von Banck family. Currently, it houses: the House of Occasional Parties, the Museum of the Old Village, and the first in Poland Museum of Horror. There is also the Wojnowice Palace Association - yesterday, today, tomorrow.
