Architecture Urban layout Old Town Market Square and Market Square III

Old Town Markets

The city has a characteristic urban layout of the Old Town with three market squares, which developed from the 15th to the beginning of the 19th century [18].

   Rynek I - Kościuszko Square - there is the City Hall building next to the square, as well as the Classicist City Hall building with a four-column portico, currently the seat of the Registry Office [18]. Rynek II - the oldest market square in Łęczna with a synagogue complex. At the market square, there is the Large Synagogue from the middle of the 19th century. XVII century, until 2014 the seat of the Regional Museum. On the hill, east of the synagogue, you can see the silhouette of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene [18]. Rynek III - the third market square from the 18th century, is located west of the oldest market place. A few hundred meters to the north, on a hill there is a magnificent manor and park complex in Podzamcze with a castle in Łęczna built on the slope of the Wieprz and Świnka valleys in the 15th century [18].

During the Renaissance, numerous taverns, guesthouses and depot houses were built - the latter from the 19th century have survived, among others, at ul. May 3, 26 and 36, and 18 and 26 Kanałowy Square. Monuments Mary Magdalene, the Classicist Town Hall, and the Big Synagogue

   Manor and park complex in Podzamcze - in the manor and palace complex there is a Łęczna castle, a 19th-century manor, an outbuilding, a granary and numerous natural monuments. Castle in Łęczna Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Łęczna - a Renaissance Roman Catholic parish church built in the years 1618-1631. Church belfry - a late baroque belfry built on a quadrilateral plan. Built after 1781 and before 1805. In 1805, it was equipped with four bells. In 1959, the belfry was equipped with three new bells, and an additional fourth was installed in 1966. Mansjonaria in Łęczna - a late-Baroque mansion building built around 1639. Former presbytery building - a wooden building of the former presbytery built around 1858 by the parish priest Bolesław Wrześniewski. The Big Synagogue - the synagogue located at 19 Bożnicza Street. It is currently one of the best preserved synagogues in the Lublin Province. Little Synagogue - a synagogue located at 21 Bożnicza Street. Town Hall - a historic classicist building built in 1888 for the purpose of the guardhouse. House with arcades - a brick, plastered brick house at ul. Krasnostawska 4, built in the mid-nineteenth century. Built on a rectangular plan, two-bay. There is an arcade along the front elevation, originally supported on wooden poles, now on brick ones [19]. Depot houses - 4 houses located at ul. 3 Maja 26 and 37 and at pl. Kanałowy 18 and 26. An example of the city's architecture from the 19th century. Wooden houses with hipped roofs, with a large entrance hall - over one third of the house area. During the Łęczna fairs, they played the role of living quarters and lodgings [19].
