The Mie Prefecture is located in the Kinki region, on the island Honshū in Japan.
Context
The prefecture was formed by the merger of the former provinces of Ise, Iga, Shima, and the northeastern part of Kii. Practically the entire prefectural area corresponds to Ise, with the exception of the current municipalities of Iga and Nabari (Iga province), Shima and Toba (Shima province) and Kita-Muro and Minami-Muro districts (separated from Kii province, which formed the Wakayama Prefecture).
