Prospect Park is a district of Brooklyn comprising the park itself, as well as the areas of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Windsor Terrace and Prospect Park South.

Understand

  • Park slope has long been a haven for mixed families, gays and indeed anyone a little off the cuff in New York City; slightly pretentious neighborhood easily compared to California's Berkeley. This somewhat precious vibe (you'll understand when you get there) would almost make some nostalgic for the days when crack addicts made up most of the wildlife. However, we must admit that the district itself has a certain charm: shops, cafes, bars, organic stores, BCBG couples with strollers ... Take the lines B Where Q around 7th Av., the M or the R towards 9th Street, or the F or the G to 4th Av. or 7th Av. and walk around the neighborhood. Prospect Park is quite large, beautiful and leafy and in winter you can go skating, while in summer it's free kites and concerts. A trendy and dynamic place, it is nonetheless colonized by politicians and celebrities, who have chosen the luxury homes bordering "the slope", as it is called, to stay.
  • Prospect Heights is located immediately north of Prospect Park, and is traditionally considered to be part of the District of Crown heights. There is the Brooklyn Museum, often snubbed by tourists despite the fact that it has nothing to envy to the museums of Manhattan. One block from the museum is the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.

To go

The lines 23 take you to Grand Army Plaza, directly at one of the corners of the park; but also Eastern Parkway, near the Brooklyn Museum and the Botanical Gardens. BQ will take you to 7th Avenue not far from the intersection with Flatbush. FG you will also be on the 7th Avenue at the intersection of the 7th and 9th (station located opposite that of the lines BQ) or to 15th Street-Prospect Park at the west corner of the park. Finally, the line M (in rush hour) or the R will lead you to Union street, station located at the corner of this street and 4th Avenue.
