Urban centers
- Leon - Famous for its cathedral, one of the finest examples of Spanish Gothic, Leon it was the capital of the kingdom of Asturia and prospered as a stop on the way to Santiago.
- Astorga - On the site of the Astúrica Augusta from Roman times, Astorga it is a pretty town with interesting monuments which testify to its past prosperity due to the extraction of gold in the nearby mines of the Maragatería.
- Castrillo de los Polvazares - Village of just 100 souls, famous for its ancient stone buildings.
