background
Chicle was once loaded here for export. Today it is only tourists who are loaded here for snorkeling or diving. But the whole thing stands out from mass tourism in terms of quantity Cancun or Playa del Carmen from. The whole area off the coast has now been declared a nature reserve. And although in a fantastic atmosphere, the place is not exactly overrun. The guided snorkeling groups are rather small.

Tourist Attractions
Puerto Morelos is especially popular with snorkelers and divers. The reef with its rich coral and fish world is just 600 meters from the shore. A special highlight is the wreck of a Spanish galleon. With a little luck, snorkelers can also see a shark or rays here.
More Attractions:
- 1 Botanical Garden. This botanical garden can be found in the south of the city and is 60 hectares in size.
- 2 Faro Inclinado. This lighthouse was tilted by a hurricane in 1957. It still stands that way and has become the city's unofficial landmark.
