Puerto San José is a city on the Pacific coast (Guatemala) in Guatemala. It is located in the Escuintla Department and has around 25,000 inhabitants. Puerto San José is the administrative seat of the municipality of San José, to which the eastern neighboring city also belongs Puerto Quetzal.

Puerto San José
The city was founded in 1853. The port is at the end of a railway line that runs into Puerto Barrios begins on the Atlantic coast. Until the 1980s, Puerto San José was Guatemala's most important port.
Puerto Quetzal
The port was built around 1980 as a container port, and within a few years it developed into the country's largest port on the Pacific coast.
In addition to the large port complex, tourism is an important economic factor due to the holiday resorts of Chulamar and Likín.
