Rakaia is a small town in the region Canterbury.

The town is located on the river of the same name in the Canterbury Plains. The Rakaia River is a intertwined river and has a relatively wide river bed, it is crossed by the longest road bridge and the longest railway bridge in the country. Rakaia is a popular spot with anglers, and an oversized trout in the park shows what can be caught here.
