The municipality of Reichenbach consists of eight farmers (sub-municipalities) who have extensive autonomy. Because they mostly manage themselves with commissions, yet they form a community of residents. These are individual peasants;

  • Kiental
  • Kien-Aris
  • Reudlen
  • Wengi
  • Schwandi

The municipal area extends from Niesen in the northwest to Blümlisalp in the southeast, and includes the lower Frutigental and the entire Kiental. The community belongs to the district of Frutigen, and was called Reichenbach bei Frutigen until 1957.

mobility

Map of Reichenbach im Kandertal

From Reichenbach through the Kiental, a post bus line leads to the Greisalp. Between Kiental and Griesalp, it is the steepest postbus line in Switzerland at 28%.

A funicular takes you from Müllenen to the Niesen.

A chairlift leads from Kiental to the eastern slope of the Geerihorn.

The road Kiental Griesalp is subject to tolls and has very severe restrictions on the passability. The 28 percent (not per mille!) Gradient on a gravel road is not without it, especially when you consider that it is only possible to drive past each other at the passing points.
