Romney Marsh - Romney Marsh

Romney Marsh is in Kent.

Understand

Romney Marsh is a sparsely populated wetland area on the Kent/East Sussex border. There are a number of small villages and settlements in the area including New Romney, Lydd and Dungeness.

Difficult to believe now, but in medieval times New Romney was one of the Cinque Ports responsible for England's maritime defence. Then the Kent coast silted up, leaving the village a mile inland.
