THE Silk Road, is not a single road, but a network of historic trade routes in Asia from China to Europe. In 2014, UNESCO added the Silk Road to its World Heritage List. Many places along the historic land routes are already on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Some examples are Xi'an, Istanbul, Samarkand, Bukhara, Merv, Tabriz, Damascus. Several of the major sea lane ports are also listed.
