Cities
- 1 Syktyvkar – Capital of the Komi Republic.
- 2 Inta (Инта́) – Small town located 666 km northeast of Syktyvkar. During the Soviet period, a Gulag camp was located at Inta.
- 3 Pechora (Печора) – The city is a former Gulag camp. It was built in 1940-1941 by deportees.
- 4 Ukhta (Ухта) – The growth of the city is linked to the presence of gas and oil deposits. It developed in the 1940s and 1950s thanks to the work of inmates in the Gulag camps.
- 5 Usinsk (Усинск) – Usinsk was founded in 1966 following the discovery of large oil fields. Seventy-five percent of the oil extracted in the republic comes from oil fields located in its region
- 6 Vorkuta (Воркута) – Gulag prisoners built the city of Vorkuta and operated the mines in the region from the 1930s. The camp was nicknamed "the frozen guillotine" because of its harsh regime.

- 1 Virgin Komi Forests (Девственные леса Коми) – The Virgin Komi Forests are one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Northern Urals Mountains. Extended over 32 800 km2 they constitute the largest virgin forest in Europe.
