Südbrookmerland with the Großes Meer recreation area - and all of East Frisia is around it. With its healthy climate and the Großer Meer recreational area, Südbrookmerland is a popular holiday and excursion destination. At the fish-rich Flachmoorsee Großer Meer, water sports enthusiasts get their money's worth when swimming, sailing, surfing, paddling or fishing. And when it has frozen a lot in winter, the lake becomes an ice skating paradise. The moor museum and the body museum give impressive insights into the history of East Friesland.

From Hanover via Bremen, Oldenburg and Leer as well as via the Emsland route from Münster via Rheine, Lingen and Leer, the main access routes lead to Emden station. From there the bus (VEJ) 410 and taxi to Südbrookmerland are available.

Tourist Attractions

The Moordorf Moor Museum - the Museum of Poverty - and that Dorp Museum in Münkeboe With the beginnings of mechanization, the arduous everyday life of the moor dwellers, old handicrafts, culture and traditions can be impressively experienced. With the annual parade in August in Münkeboe, along with the classic car meeting, parts of these exhibitions become mobile.

At the Woldenhof, Lower Saxony's first school farm, young and old learn interesting facts about animals, plants and the origin of the food.

There is one in the district of Engerhafe memorial for the concentration camp established here during World War II.

There is no pub in Südbrookmerland where you can talk about afterlife. Two large discos, that Galaxy in the Georgsheil industrial park as well as that Tuna in Moorhusen with two dance floors each (dance and party / hit) with a large catchment area in surrounding cities are preferred by younger people. Older semesters can visit the 8 km away Aurich fall back on where with the Dancing bear find an over-30 disco as well as lively pubs.
