Sajama is a village of Bolivia at the foot of the volcano Nevado Sajama.

Thermal baths

A warm river

  • The "official" thermal baths. Paying. Possibility to buy drinks to sip on site. These are the thermal baths shown on the map given to you at the entrance to the park.
  • A little further on the main track there is a hamlet with a traditional (rounded) house on the left. Take the road to the village. Continue to the river. Cross the river, and a few meters away a pool allows you to bathe (max 1.5m deep).
  • Still further on the main track, on the left an abandoned chapel. Take the path to the chapel (passing under the barbed wire), up to the river. A few meters after the river, a small pool to soak your feet. Hot river tributaries. Possibility to take a hot shower under a mini waterfall.

Ascent of Nevado Sajama

The existence of glaciers, with the presence of numerous crevasses and steep slopes, makes the ascent difficult. It is usually done by following the ridges that lead to the top of the glacier. Housing

Upon arrival in the village, you will be offered accommodation directly. Take the time to choose, and don't necessarily go for the first one that will be offered to you. At the entrance to the village there is also a hotel (better standard but also higher prices). The accommodations are generally with private bathroom and the possibility of eating morning, noon and evening for a fair price.
