The ruins of the Józef smelter in Samsonów are the most interesting technical monuments in the old Polish industrial area. The smelter was open until 1866, when it was consumed by a fire. More serious fires also broke out in 1844 and 1848. Around 1852, the steelworks produced kitchen utensils, cylinders and anvils.
